Download ASP.NET MVC Framework Beta - jQuery and Silverlight Integration

Scott Guthrie mentions the release of the ASP.NET MVC Framework Beta. Yep, Beta! No more CTP's for ASP.NET MVC.

A couple of interesting things.

  1. jQuery is bundled with ASP.NET MVC Now as well as ASP.NET AJAX. You now have your choice of whether you want to use jQuery, ASP.NET AJAX, or both. We expected this as Scott Mentioned jQuery would now be bundle with ASP.NET MVC: jQuery Bundled with Visual Studio 2008 - ASP.NET MVC Framework - AJAX Control Toolkit
  2. When you create a Silverlight Application you now have the ability to choose an ASP.NET MVC Web Application in addition to the normal ASP.NET Website or ASP.NET Web Application Project.

Scott runs through a number of the changes in the ASP.NET MVC Beta:

  • New "Add View" Menu in Visual Studio
  • New \Scripts directory and jQuery Support
  • Built-in Model Binder Support for Complex Types
  • Refactored Model Binder Infrastructure
  • Strongly Typed UpdateModel and TryUpdateModel WhiteList Filtering
  • Improved Unit Testing of UpdateModel and TryUpdateModel Scenarios
  • Strongly Typed [AcceptVerbs] attribute
  • Better Validation Error Messages
  • HTML Helper Cleanup and Refactoring
  • Silverlight / ASP.NET MVC Project Integration
  • ASP.NET MVC Futures Assembly
  • \Bin and GAC Assembly Deployment

For more information check out ScottGu's post.

You can download ASP.NET MVC Beta here. As of this moment, the source is not available on CodePlex, but I would expect it to be there fairly soon.
